“One web. One world. One wish.” That’s the slogan behind the worldwide OneWebDay event to be celebrated each year on September 22. It’s being described as a sort of “Earth Day for the Internet.”
Portland’s celebration will take place in Pioneer Courthouse Square from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be demonstration booths, speakers and music. As I write this, speakers include:
-
Commissioner Dan Saltzman
-
EasyStreet President & CEO Rich Bader
-
Wiki patriarch Ward Cunningham (now CTO at AboutUs)
-
PersonalTelco President Michael Weinberg
-
One Economy Sr. VP Rob Bole
Booth topics include Internet safety, blogging and microblogging, wiki, mobile web, social networks and sharing Wi-Fi connections. There will also be “how to” demos about Internet banking, jobs, health and education.
