OSCON Exits Portland

I read last week in the Oregonian that the Open Source Conference, OSCON, is moving next year from Portland to the Bay Area. Travel costs are a major reason behind this decision. It’s interesting to me that, as much as the Internet provides unprecedented global connectivity, good old face-to-face interaction is still the norm for this type of event. What do you think?
