EasyStreet Director of Finance Appointed to Oregon’s Small Scale Energy Program Advisory Committee

Beaverton, Ore. — October 10, 2008 — EasyStreet® Online Services, Inc. announces the company’s Director of Finance, Jack Flug, has been appointed by the Director of the Oregon Department of Energy, Michael Grainey, to the state’s Small Scale Energy Loan Program Advisory Committee (SELPAC). The committee, comprising seven appointed volunteers, recommends to the Director which energy-related projects should be approved for funding.

Written in to Oregon’s constitution in 1980, the Small Scale Energy Loan Program (SELP) provides favorable-rate funding for projects that help conserve energy, support recycling or develop renewable resources. Types of previously approved projects include weatherization, solar and geothermal heating, methane gas recovery and alternative fuels for transportation. Oregon general obligation bonds provide funds for the loans.

Said Flug, “We are fortunate to have such progressive energy laws in the state of Oregon when it comes to incentives. The state can provide low-cost loans with creative terms while being mindful of those projects that should be funded through private sources. SELPAC is looking for good, meaningful projects with a focus on saving energy.”

Flug initially became acquainted with SELP through Portland General Electric (PGE), after EasyStreet began participating in the utility’s renewable energy program in early 2007. A few connections and conversations later, EasyStreet began collaborating with a group of engineers, experts and consultants from PGE, Intel, IDC Architects, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Energy Trust of Oregon, the U.S. Department of Energy and other organizations, to design a new energy-efficient data center. EasyStreet’s executive team, including Flug, worked through Energy Trust of Oregon to acquire funding from SELP to build the data center and to determine eligibility for the state’s Business Energy Tax Credits. (Of course, Flug would recuse himself from evaluating any future EasyStreet projects coming before the Committee.)

Said the Oregon Department of Energy Assistant Director for Finance, Jeff Keto, who oversees the Energy Loan Program, “Jack brings to the Advisory Committee a depth of experience and knowledge in finance and in high-tech. Because he has worked in both private sector and non-profit financing, I know Jack’s contributions will be of value. We look forward to his participation.”

“The Advisory Committee meets ad-hoc when energy-saving projects are ready for review — either face-to-face with applicants or on the phone, depending on the project scope,” said Flug. “Project approval also has an environmental component. Funding might not be approved for a project that saves energy but has a negative environmental impact.”

Prior to joining EasyStreet, Jack was Finance Director for the PCB Division of Cadence Design Systems. He is a current Board Member and Treasurer of the Equity Foundation.
