EasyStreet Among Oregon’s Most Admired Companies

A tableful of EasyStreet staffers just returned from a Portland Business Journal luncheon recognizing the state’s Most Admired Companies for 2009. EasyStreet was fortunate to be eighth on the list of ten technology companies so honored. We’d like to congratulate our customers who also received this distinction:

  • AKT LLP (Steve Tatone was the top CEO in the Professional Services group.)
  • Albina Community Bank
  • The Collins Companies
  • Ferguson Wellman Capital Management
  • Intel Corp. (Named top Technology company.)
  • Leatherman Tool Group Inc.,
  • Mercy Corps (Named top Nonprofit organization.)
  • Miller Nash LLP
  • Oregon Health & Science University (Named top Health Care organization.)
  • PacTrust
  • Reser’s Fine Foods Inc. (Al Reser was the top CEO in the Agriculture and Forest Products group.)

We’re Number 20!

It’s not often being 20th on any list is brag-worthy, but EasyStreet was blown away to be ranked number 20 on Oregon Business magazine’s 2009 list of 100 Best Green Companies to Work for in Oregon. The awards ceremony was held at the Gerding Theatre last night. For the 2009 survey, nearly 30,000 Oregon workers rated satisfaction and importance in five statements related to sustainable practices.

Because the awards are based on employee input, Oregon Business Publisher Andrew Insinga said these awards are all about “what these companies are doing to be green when nobody’s looking.” Even Governor Kulongoski stopped by to offer his congratulations. And we were delightfully serenaded by the Portland Cello Project.

Performance artist Drew Slum delivers his rapid-fire rap-poem, “Ode to the 100 Best,” which cleverly incorporates the names of all 100 companies on the list. I hope he publishes it somewhere for everyone to read — it’s amazing!

Well Done, TechAmerica Oregon!

I must congratulate the TechAmerica staff on a well-run Oregon Technology Awards event last week. The program really moved along with short and snappy videos about each finalist organization and a two-minute limit imposed on the “Cool Product of the Year” pitches. (GadgetTrak® won the Cool Product title. I may have to try that particular cool product myself, having lost a Mac laptop to some sticky-fingered lowlives a few months ago…)

EasyStreet was proud to be one of three finalists in the “Technology Service Company of the Year” category, presented to “the Technology-Service company that has made the biggest positive impact to their customers and the region.” ACME Business Consulting LLC captured the top honors (congratulations, ACME!), but we were sincerely delighted to be on the list of finalists, along with Integra Telecom.

EasyStreet wins a Bicycle Friendly award

Portland is a bicycle friendly town.  In fact, earlier this year Portland was the first major city to win the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) coveted Platinum award – their highest level of distinction.   (Portland was at the lower Gold level for several years.)  Now the LAB has extended their “bicycle-friendly” classification to businesses.  Their Bicycle Friendly Business award honors businesses who pedal the extra mile to make their locations friendly to bikes and have employee and community programs which encourage bicycling.   This is the first year of the award.  We are pretty bike-oriented around here so we applied.

EasyStreet won a Bronze level of bicycle friendliness!

So, what makes EasyStreet so bike friendly?   First, a lot of EasyStreet bikes to work, even out here in the suburban westside.  We have participation running from 5% to 25% depending upon the weather and time of year.  It helps that we allow bike parking inside (right next to your cubicle) and have showers available.  And we donate various Internet services to a host of bicycle-related organizations from around the Portland Metro area and Oregon.

While we are proud of the award, we are not stopping here.  We have a Gold level in our sights for next year.
