UPDATE: Back up your accounts

We have been working with Google to ensure we can effectively back up all your data in support for the migration. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we are unable to come up with a reliable way to ensure we backup every account. We want to stress the importance for you to backup your data ahead of the migration. If you do not backup your own data, you run the risk that you will lose data from your account including:

  • Contacts
  • Calendars
  • Uploaded files including Videos and Photos

What will happen to the files I have stored on the EasyStreet.net drive?

  • You should download and backup any files you want to keep or will need after the migration.

Safeguard your data

As we prepare you to migrate from Google to Office 365, we want to take a few precautions to safeguard your data. This page guides EasyStreet.net clients through simple steps to save a copy of all your data.

Your data is private to you and EasyStreet has no visibility into how you have used the Google platform or what type of data and files you currently store in your account. We are only able to see how large your storage is.

EasyStreet is doing everything we can to safeguard your data during the migration, however, we strongly recommend that each client take into their own hands backing up their data.

Once your backup is complete, please note you should stop storing additional data on the Google platform including adding new contacts and calendar entires, storing new files such as videos and pictures. Any new data generated after the backup will not be part of your migration.

Any emails received between the time the backup was performed and the migration should be ok and will be available once the migration is complete.

Act now

Our recommendation is for you to backup your account and files by June 22, 2015.
We realize this is a short window but we are moving quickly to transition from Google and keep your email working.

Keep a copy of your data backups

It is important that you retain your backups until after the migration is complete and you have been able to successfully check your data. We are taking every effort to make sure there is no loss of data, but we encourage everyone to backup their own accounts.

EasyStreet and Atmosera cannot be held liable for your personal data inside your EasyStreet.net accounts or its loss as part of the migration. We are here to help and provide steps to safeguard your data.

Steps to backup your data

Google has provided a handy tool and simple steps to backup all your data and create a local copy. If you are not comfortable following these steps, please find someone who can help you and follow these steps prior to June 22, 2015.

Download your data with Google Takeout

Google Takeout is a tool Google provides for free. Using this tool, you can download all your account data and create a zip file which will include your entire Drive contents. It also allows you to easily export a copy of your mail, contacts, calendar, bookmarks, YouTube items, Google+ profile items, Blogger posts, etc. Follow these steps to get started:

Step 1

Go to mail.easystreet.net

Step 2

Log in using your existing EasyStreet.net account username (your easystreet.net email) and password

if you no longer remember your password please email us:

Step 3

Go to https://www.google.com/settings/takeout
Your browser window should look like this:
Backup01

Step 4

By default, all data should be selected and marked by a green check.
You can also manually select which data to include.
We recommend you keep all checked.

Click on the blue button: Next

Step 5

Choose the file type which will be used to create a copy of your data.
We recommend using the .zip format (this should be the default already selected)

Choose the delivery method.
We recommend Send download link via email (this should be the default already selected)

Your browser window should look like this:
Backup02

Step 6

Click on the blue button: Create archive
Please note this process may take a while depending on the size of your account data.
Your browser window should look like this:
Backup03

You can wait to receive an email or stay put and download your backup directly.

If you want to use the email generated by Google, please skip to step 9.

Step 7

Again, this could take a long time depending on how large your account data is.
When the backup is complete, you will eventually see the download available screen and the show downloads button.
Your browser window should look like this:
Backup04

Step 8

Click on the blue button: Show downloads

You may have multiple backup files.
Each file should be downloaded from the screen presented which will look like this:
Backup06

Step 9

If you successfully used steps 7 and 8 you can skip step 9.

If you selected the email option, once the backup files are created by Google, you will receive the following email with links to download the archive file (there could be multiple files depending on the size of your data):
Backup05

Considerations

Please make sure you have enough storage to save the files provided by Google.
We recommend you create at least two copies of this file using one of the following:
1. A cloud storage service such as Dropbox or SugarSync
2. An external USB drive
3. An external hard drive
4. A backup service such as Apple Time Machine

The .zip files can easily be unzipped and checked using a variety of free utilities.

It will take roughly 1 hour per GB of data to download

Now that your data on the Google platform has been backed up, you are ready to be migrated.

You will receive an email 3 calendar days before your account will get migrated.

Please note you should stop storing additional data on the Google platform including adding new contacts and calendar entires, storing new files such as videos and pictures. Any new data generated after the backup will not be part of your migration.

Any emails received between the time the backup was performed and the migration should be ok and will be available once the migration is complete.
